The head to head contests are carried out according to the “knock-out” system. Two teams start at the same time, from the left and the right bank, with the aim to beat the other to the finish line. The winners pass on into the next round until a single team comes out of the contest as the overall winner. The starting order depends on the outcome of the sprint race beforehand. The head to head contest can easily be carried out on a relatively short stretch, bearing the same advantages as the slalom, being spectator - and TV- friendly. The contest demands endurance and speed. |
